Olen TKK:lla tietotekniikkaa opiskeleva homolarppaajanörtti, joka on viime aikoina kiinnostunut politiikasta. Minussa yhdistyvät idealismi ja realismi: Realiteetit on ymmärrettävä ja hyväksyttävä, ennen kuin niihin voidaan puuttua. Toisaalta päämääränä tulee aina olla muutos parempaan. Omana tavoitteenani on Espoo, joka kannustaa asukkaitaan ekologisesti kestävään elämään. Yhteisestä planeetasta huolehtiminen on jokaisen valtion, kunnan ja ihmisen velvollisuus.
Ilmastonmuutos on ratkaistavissa, jos vain tahtoa löytyy. Ekologinen elämäntapa ei ole salatiedettä tai sankartekoja vaan yksinkertaisia valintoja. Osa valinnoista, kuten pyöräily, kasvissyönti ja yleinen nuukailu, ovat jo nykyiselläänkin yksilölle taloudellisesti kannattavia. Toiset, kuten joukkoliikenne ja uusiutuvat energianlähteet, kuitenkin tarvitsevat nykyistä enemmän kunnan ja valtion tukea.
Valistusta ekologisista elintavoista, kuten energiansäästöstä, on lisättävä. Espoon koulujen tulee tavoitella valtakunnallista vihreää lippua, joka kertoo, että koulussa otetaan erityisen hyvin huomioon ympäristöasiat kuten energiansäästö. Kunnalla tulee olla myös selkeät tavoitteet ja keinot kunnan ylläpitämien kohteiden energiankulutuksen seuraamiseksi ja karsimiseksi.
Tehokas tapa, jolla kuntalainen voi pienentää ekologista selkäreppuaan, on joukkoliikenteen käyttö. Siksi joukkoliikenteestä on tehtävä nykyistä sujuvampaa ja edullisempaa.
Ympäristöasioiden lisäksi minua kiinnostavat muun muassa seksuaali- ja sukupuolivähemmistöjen oikeudet, maahanmuuttokysymykset ja tietoyhteiskunnan rakentaminen.
